Lewis H. Evans collection, 1867, 1908-1909.

This collection consists of three items. The first is a framed print of John Wesley "Preaching from the Steps of a Market Cross", published by Bovril, produced by C.W Faulkner & Co., London, 1909. The artist was Whatnerell [sic]. The second item is a handwritten book of spiritual poetry and/or hymns written by Selina Chency Bayley, ca. 1867. There are some illustrations on several pages as well. The last item is a scrapbook that contains newspaper clippings and correspondence, ca. 1908 regarding Dr. Charles O. Jones, a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church. There is correspondence to Jones from friends and relatives.

John Wesley, evangelist and founder of Methodism, was born 17 June 1703, in Epworth, Lincolnshire, England, and died 2 March 1791, in London, England.
